One Night in Trinidad

This is a whimsical view of the Island provinces of Trinidad and Tobago, which are home to scorpion peppers, one of the hottest group of peppers in the world. Trinidad and Tobago were also ports frequented by the notorious 18th century pirates that roamed the Caribbean. These islands host Carnival, a festival of excess and indulgence, each February. I depicted each of these elements in this piece. The feather-festooned pepper is the indigenous long-tailed orange scorpion, and the red one firing cannon at a pirate raider, is the Trinidad scorpion. One hot February night on the island for sure.
